Hon. Minister of Information salutes Prof. Bugaje for revamping TVET

The Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has commended the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) under the leadership of Professor Idris M. Bugaje for his tireless efforts in moving the Board forward.

Alhaji Mohammed Idris made the commendation during a courtesy visit by Professor Idris M. Bugaje and some staff of the NBTE Board on 23rd September 2025 at the Ministry. In his remarks, the Honourable Minister of Information said the NBTE’s idea of promoting skills over certificates is a commendable initiative that can change the narrative of the African employment system.

The Honorable Minister also applauded the NBTE Board for developing curricula in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Biofuel, stating that these initiatives will boost the skills market and enhance the quality of work.

Commenting on the Creative Media Curriculum based on the National Occupational Standards (NOS), the Minister said it will standardize and formalize the media sector.

Earlier, in his remarks, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), explained the importance of National Occupational Standards (NOS) for the Nigerian economy. He stated that the Creative Media Course in the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) would help mitigate the issue of out-of-school children.

Furthermore, Bugaje sought the collaboration of the Ministry of Information and National Orientation to promote NSQF programs, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of Renewed Hope to reduce poverty among Nigerians.
