The appointment of Dr. Suleiman Umar as the Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic has brought a new wave of hope and optimism to the institution. With his wealth of experience and leadership skills, Dr. Umar has made a significant strides in transforming the polytechnic into a hub of academic excellence.

Since his appointment in June 2022, Dr. Umar has demonstrated a deep understanding of the institution’s strengths and weaknesses. He has been working tirelessly to address the challenges facing the polytechnic, and his efforts had yielded positive results. His leadership style has been praised for being inclusive, motivating, friendly but working to serve the interest of the system, Dr. Sulaiman has been able to bring together the staff and students towards a common goal of academic progress with reforms and initiatives that drive for excellence.

One of Dr. Umar’s notable achievements are his emphasis on academic excellence, staff development and students’ welfarism. He has been encouraging staff and students to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits, and his efforts have kept the polytechnic going. The polytechnic has witnessed a significant improvement in its academic performance, and Dr. Umar’s leadership has been an instrumental of good leadership.

Dr. Umar’s commitment to corporate social responsibility is also worth noting. Under his leadership, Kaduna Polytechnic has embarked on notable CSR initiatives to the close by communities. Those projects have greatly benefited the local communities and the projects demonstrated the concern of Kaduna Polytechnic to its close by communities.

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) collaborates with the management in championing the vision of the Institution. Through this, the institution has provided a conducive environment for staff and students to thrive.

Dr. Umar’s vision for Kaduna Polytechnic is centered on infrastructural development and improving the learning environment. He believes that a conducive learning environment is essential for academic excellence, and his efforts have been focused on creating such an environment.

In recognition of his commitment to building strong leadership in the institution, Dr. Umar was honored with the award of Committed Leadership by the College of Business and Management Studies (CBMS) and Business Educators Association in Vocational Education (BEAVE) of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was also honored by Unguwar Sanusi community as a passionate leader that holds a mind for people’s progress. Those award are symbols to his dedication to the institution’s growth and development.

Dr. Umar remains optimistic about the good future of Kaduna Polytechnic. With his cooperating and loyal staff and management team, Kaduna Polytechnic is waxing to the best polytechnic of learning.

The Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic believes that with the collective efforts of the staff and students, Kaduna Polytechnic can become a leading institution of higher learning in Nigeria.
