The Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic (KadPoly), Dr. Suleiman Umar, has met with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, and discussed issues for a successful transition of Kaduna Polytechnic to a university as the bill is currently awaiting final reading and presidential assent.
During the meeting, the National Assembly Speaker, who sponsored the bill, promised of a smooth transition process that would not affect any staff member or department of the institution. While, the Rector emphasized the importance of ensuring that the conversion process should be a seamless and beneficial to all the Kaduna Polytechnic staff.
The meeting also focused on establishing more infrastructure in Kaduna Polytechnic to meet global university standard.
The Rector and the Speaker agreed to work together with other stakeholders, National Assembly members that are chairing the same mission to ensure that the institution is well-prepared for its potential conversion to a university.
The conversion of Kaduna Polytechnic to a university is expected to have a positive impact on the institution and its stakeholders. The Rector and the Speaker’s meeting is a significant step towards achieving this goal.

Now that polytechnics are being converted to universities then, does that mean that they have outlived their primary functions? The world is turning from certificates to skills and Nigeria is turning from skills to certificates. We are making skills acquisitions to look inferior and something that we should discourage instead of the reverse.
Am so happy for hearing this news but when the conversion will finish
