NBTE grants KadPoly 100% approval of 71 academic programmes – DAP

The Director Academic Planning (DAP) of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr. Nasiru Bello Wailare has said the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted Kaduna Polytechnic approval for 71 programmes for a period of five years.

In a letter conveyed to the Kaduna Polytechnic Rector by the Director of Polytechnic Programmes Department, Dr. Mrs. Fatima Kabir Umar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Board, Prof. Idris M. Bugaje, stated that the Board has approved the accreditation of 71 academic programmes without shortfall.

The Director; Academic Planning said before the accreditation exercise, the NBTE directed all TVET institutions effective that from 1st January 2024, all quality assurance activities must be processed online accreditation, saying as of May 2024, a total number of 70 programs in Kaduna Polytechnic appeared with expired accreditation status on the NBTE portal.

“The 2024 digital accreditation process commenced in August 2024 with a sensitization workshop for all deans, deputy deans, HODs, and other stakeholders. The workshop was anchored by the NBTE ICT unit and fully sponsored by KadPoly management.

“In October 2024, all HODs were mobilised and requested to commence the filling of the online Self Study Questionnaire (SSQ). All the duly filled SSQs were submitted to NBTE on 19th Dec 2024,” Dr. Wailare explained.

The Director added that NBTE assessed and returned some SSQs of Departments with deficiencies to remedy. All observed deficiencies were remedied and confirmed to NBTE. With approval as contained in a letter from NBTE dated 17th February 2025 and the Rector approved the immediate payment of Digitalisation and curriculum development charges to NBTE on 20th February 2025.

“A date for the physical verification visit by NBTE’S team was fixed for 13th to 15th march 2025. The verification visit was conducted successfully as scheduled,” Dr. Welari expatiate.

The Kaduna Polytechnic academic Director said with the combined efforts of all the academic/non-academic staff and the management of the institution all the under following 71 programs slated for Accreditation and re-accreditation were granted approval vide NBTE’S letter dated 8th April 2025.

The Director appreciated mentoring leadership, guidance support of the Rector, Deputy Rectors Academics, Registrar, Polytechnic Librarian, Deans, Deputy deans, HODs, ICT Unit, Directorate of Academic Planning Information and protocol division and many others for their contribution in achieving the unprecedented success in the accreditation exercise.

Hence, Dr. Wailare attributed the success of the accreditation to the dedication and hard work of the staff and management of the institution, saying it was a testament to their commitments to excellence.

While, in the approval letter of the approval letter, the Director of Polytechnics Programmes noted that the accredited programmes will be due for another visitation by the end of September 2030. Stating that the NBTE extended warm regards to the Kaduna Polytechnic management on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Board.
