On the 5th of July 2019, the bill for the establishment of Federal Polytechnic Daura (FEDPODRA) was signed into law. The bill was first sponsored by Senator Mustafa Dan Bukar and Senator Babba Kaita continued with it after the demise of Senator Dan Bukar. Senator Babba Kaita was a representative of the Katsina North Senatorial District, and the Federal Polytechnic Daura began operation for 2019/2020 academic session.
Professor Aliyu Mamman – through scrutiny, interviews and due process emerged the pioneer rector of Federal Polytechnic, Daura from 2020 to 2025.
The five years old Federal Polytechnic is magnanimously growing and the five years rectorhsip tenure of the Rector comes closer but lots have been achieved because the people entrusted with the trust of managing the Institution moil and moist the academic fortune of the Federal Polytechnic Daura to the promised land. They did wonderfully, built a symbol of excellence, confidence and refute in the administrative functions of the Polytechnic.
As a professor of international recognition with many awards of achievements, merit and a good track of records, Professor Aliyu Mamman has set a good path for the progress of the five years old Polytechnic in Daura. With three colleges on two campuses and currently running 21 National Diploma and 11 Higher National Diploma programs, the Federal Polytechnic Daura has fast track ahead of its mates because of the competitive and dedicative work of the Rector of the Institution.
With hard-work, zeal, industrious competitiveness, the Federal Polytechnic Daura started with flying colors and a good record of achievements.
In 2024, the Institution graduated 399 pioneering students with marvelous results of excellence.
Working with prudence, accountability and economic support from the state and the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Federal Polytechnic Daura has performed beyond illusive imagination in infrastructural development.
With a conducive environment of learning, asphalt roads around the school, designed classes and offices of learning and modern equipment of impacting practical knowledge to the students, the undergraduates of the Federal Polytechnic Daura have become the most important persons in teaching and guidance.
Being a graduate of economics from the reputable Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Prof. Aliyu earned his masters from the same institution and his Ph.D from Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto in 2005. Professor Aliyu Mamman believed in the Nigerian education system despite many Nigerian academics running for soft landing in the diaspora. This is why he knows much about the Nigeria system of education and the best way to make it better.
Prof. Aliyu Mamman is a dynamic employer of service, an experienced academic, an emeritus of knowledge who served Kaduna Polytechnic, Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Kaduna State University, Alqalam University, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Umaru Musa Yar’adua University (UMYU) and Federal University Dutsinma until his appointment as the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Daura. Upon, these attributes, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Daura has become the jack of all the trades in the corridors of knowledge in all ramifications.
In April, 2024, after holding the position of the Vice- Chairman, Professor Aliyu Mamman was appointed the Chairman Committee of Federal Polytechnic Rectors (COFER). This grand achievement is a sign of commitment and resilience and was acknowledged by the President of Maryam Abacha American University, Prof. (Dr) Mohammad Israr at the second matriculation of the Federal Polytechnic Daura. Prof. Israr has unveiled the secret of the development of Federal Polytechnic Daura commending the giant contributions of the management team of the Institution stating the future revelation of the Institution to be among the top ten polytechnics in Nigeria in a shortest time.
One good thing about this gentleman, the doyen of knowledge; Prof. Aliyu is a simple person, courageous personality, perseverance administrator and a good mentor to his mentees. Also, he is a feather giver, a pusher to the sky, an angel of knowledge and a visionary leader whose passion is to leave a remarkable legacy for the future generations in any place he works. Giving him work pays and making him a leader yields the best results. He is an academic writer, publisher, high index researcher, and a multitalented academic guru in his field of study and has so much passion to impact knowledge on young learners. This is why the Federal Polytechnic Daura got more than expected from Professor Aliyu Mamman, FNIM, FNIMN, FRMN.
For this magnanimous work conducted, we pray for more opportunities for you as the time to say goodbye to the public service of the Federal Polytechnic Daura comes closer. The president of Nigeria, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, the Emir of Daura and people of Katsina State can testify on your good records of service and judge you accordingly for not failing them. While, the students, staff of the Federal Polytechnic Daura and the people of Katsina feel the sound of the tinkling departing time, wee pray you to get another potential opportunity to help in the restructuring drive of our country’s knowledge to a better position.
