The Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association sporting competition is a biennial event involving all accredited Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology in Nigeria. It dates back to April 10, 1976 . According to the organizers, the games were created to ensure peaceful co-existence among Nigerians and to discover and nurture sporting talents for national assignments. Yaba College of Technology appears to be the most successful institution in the history of the competition, having won the most gold medals on seven occasions including 2014.
The 2024 edition which will flagged off today at the mainbowl of the Federal Polytechnic Offa stadium promises to be another milestone in the history of the Polytechnic. The Dr Kadiri K.Oluwatoyin’ s Management supported by the Governing Council and the teeming staff of the Polytechnic has left no stone unturned in the preparation for the games slated for April 5-12 2025, in order to ensure that it is the best in the history of the Games.
A cursory look at the Polytechnic environment portends the unparalleled preparation of the Polytechnic to stage a state- of-the-art NIPOGA sporting competition.
The Offa township which is agog now has worn a new look with the creation of awareness for the support of the games while the Polytechnic Community has become a cynosure for Nigerians with beautification of varied stages.
As of now many Polytechnics have arrived with different sportsmen and ladies trooping into the Polytechnic as Opening Ceremony begins tomorrow.
All roads lead to the Polytechnic Stadium, Mini Campus, tomorrow for the Opening Ceremony which will be graced with pump and pungeatry, and dignitaries from the Federal Ministry of Education, the Kawra State government , and a host of others
