They are Professor Haruna Musa (Academic), Professor Aliyu Mu’azu (Management Services) and Professor Amina Mustapha (Research and Development).
The appointment was ratified at the senate 421 meeting held on Wednesday.
Professor Haruna Musa attended Government Secondary School Danbatta in 1985 and proceeded to Bayero University, Kano, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 1991. Haruna obtained his master’s degree in Polymer Chemistry in 1999 and PhD in the same Polymer Chemistry from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom, in 2009.
Solacebase reports that according to the university weekly bulletin, the new DVC Academics joined Bayero University, Kano, in 1993 as a Graduate Assistant and rose through the ranks to become a professor in 2019.
Prof. Haruna was a former HOD Pure and Industrial Chemistry and is the immediate past Chairperson of BUK branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.
He has been BUK Governing Council member from 2023 to date, Deputy Director Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainability Transitions. He also served as the Deputy Director the Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainability Transition (CREST).
Professor Aliyu Mu’azu, the new Deputy Vice Chancellor, Management Services, graduated from Bayero University, Kano in 1993 from the Department of Nigerian Languages.
He obtained his MA and PhD in 1997 and 2008 from BUK and a Certificate Course on Higher Education and Administration from China. He joined the services of the University in 2002 as an Assistant Lecturer and rose through the ranks to become a professor in 2017. He is a member of the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
Until his appointment, he was the Director of SERVICOM. He has been a visiting lecturer to many universities in Italy and Poland.
Professor Amina Mustapha, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Research and Development, is a 1994 graduate of Agricultural Science from the Usmanu Dan fodio University, Sokoto.
She obtained a Master’s degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan in 1998 as well as a PhD in 2012 with a specialization in Agricultural Marketing and Value Chain Analysis.
Amina joined Bayero University in 2002 and rose through the ranks to become a Professor of Agricultural Economics in 2018.
She is the first female professor from Yauri Emirate of Kebbi state.
The new Deputy Vice Chancellor was, until her appointment, the Deputy Director, Outreach and Publications in the Centre for Dryland Agriculture since 2015 to date.
