The Federal Ministry of Education has said it established a 7-member committee to address bullying in schools nationwide, reinforcing its commitment to student welfare and a safe learning environment.
According to a statement, Tuesday, signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the committee will also be mandated to review reported cases and ensure swift action, complementing the 21-member team working on a National Policy on Anti-Bullying.
In order to facilitate confidential reporting, the government has introduced hotline – 09012660044, email: antibullying@education.gov.ng and WhatsApp – 08052536133 to report such cases.
According to the statement, the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, emphasised the urgent need for effective interventions, citing the psychological impact of bullying on students.
The statement reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying, urging school administrators, teachers, parents and students to support the initiative.
“This aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritising education as a driver of national development,” the statement said read.
