Professor John Ebeh, a lecturer at Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, has been abducted by gunmen who stormed his residence in a suburb of Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State.

The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, January 3, at approximately 7 pm. According to eyewitnesses, the assailants carried out the attack amidst heavy gunfire, sending residents fleeing for safety.

Sources close to the family revealed that the kidnappers have contacted them, demanding a ransom of N10 million for the professor’s release.

A witness recounted the chilling sequence of events: “The attackers acted swiftly, like in a commando operation. We initially thought the car trailing him was driven by a friend or colleague, but we soon heard gunshots near his gate.”

Another source added that Professor Ebeh was intercepted just as he approached his home.

“A vehicle blocked his path, and masked individuals armed with guns emerged, forcing him into their car and speeding away,” the source explained.

The kidnappers reportedly reached out to the family on Friday night with their ransom demand.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, and the community remains on edge as efforts to secure the lecturer’s release intensify.
