Professor Idris M. Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Transformative Excellence award in TVET for his transformative contributions to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.
The award, presented by NBTE Serviccom, recognizes Professor Idris M. Bugaje’s leadership in driving innovation and excellence within the TVET sector. The award was conferred upon him for his drive in TVET.
Professor Bugaje’s efforts have resulted in promoting skills, creating wealth of skills jobs, formalizing the informal sector, and driving skills development. His leadership has also brought about new curricula in the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and National Occupational Standards (NOS).
As Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education, Professor Idris M. Bugaje has brought about positive changes in Nigerian Technical and Vocational Education, achieving numerous successes during his tenure.
During the conferment of the award, the awardee said, “This award is conceived to appreciate the leader, respect a father and brother, reward his trust in his followers, celebrate his outstanding achievements in the TVET ecosystem worldwide, cherish his courage in the face of the system’s weaknesses, applaud his vision and innovation, and overall acknowledge his mentorship to many.
“TVET transformation within these 3 years and a half brought the formation of SASSNET, NIPOF, and the recognition by the highest global skills body.
“The period oversaw the organization of private sector towards improved skill delivery never done before, improved Government perception to the sector, promote society’s awareness of the Board and present Nigeria’s TVET sector in the forefront of global appeal and recognition.
