The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has hosted the first inter-agency collaborative meeting aimed at enhancing the Federal Program for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders including the Nigerian Arabic Language Village and the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children.
In his keynote address, the Registrar of NBAIS, Professor Yahuza Suleiman Imam emphasized the critical nature of addressing the educational needs of Almajiri and out-of-school children.
“It is a great honor to welcome all of you to this meeting to discuss and tackle the issue of Almajiri and out-of-school children. “
The registrar explained that there is no way to tackle these issues without Collaborative efforts with relevant stakeholders .
“Issues of Examinations needed to be handled with the Collaboration of the Arabic Language Village ,and the National Commission for Almajiri and out of school Children with the aim of ensuring that Almajiri Obtain Certificate”
In his remark, The CEO of the Nigerian Arabic Language Village, Professor Ibrahim,expressed his gratitude to the NBAIS for organizing the meeting.
He highlighted the significance of the collaboration in realizing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision for addressing the Almajiri and out-of-school children crisis.
“We come together to actualize the dream of President Tinubu. Almajiri and out-of-school children are a serious concern, which is why the President established the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children. We commend him for this achievement,”
The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children,Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris also Applauded NBAIS for facilitating the inter-agency cooperation.
“By the end of this administration, there will be no child roaming the streets without going to school in Nigeria.
As the lieutenants of Mr. President, we are more than ready to actualize his vision.
My commission will collaborate with the Islamic University of Medina and the Islamic University of Niger to secure admissions for Almajiris after they obtain their SAISSCE certificates from NBAIS,”.
The meeting concluded with the formation of a technical committee tasked with furthering the collaborative efforts.
Each agency will contribute three members to the committee to ensure comprehensive and effective follow-up actions.
